Unfortunately, I am not able anymore to supervise any thesis or guided research. Feel free to contact my colleagues with research interests in NLP and the legal domain.
Ingo has been a researcher at the chair for Software Engineering of Business Information Systems (sebis) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) since October 2017. He holds a master's degree in Information Systems from TUM and wrote his master thesis about Semantic Analysis and Structuring of German Legal Documents using Named Entity Recognition and Disambiguation.
His research focuses on the intersection between computer science and law. He is very interested in the semantic analysis of legal documents, but also in general in the utilization of AI within the legal domain. Another interesting aspect of this research field is the modelling of legal documents, as well as the legal document creation process. Especially, Ingo is actively exploring how to turn unstructured legal data, in particular legal verdicts, into a structured representation. Thereby, such a structured representation shall be enriched by semantic information in order to improve legal information retrieval. The goal of his research is to expedite the digital transformation of the legal domain. Therefore, Ingo is always looking for attractive use cases to support the work of legal practitioners and realize their processes digitally. Within his research he also cooperates with leading legal scientists and practitioners, for example legal publishers. More detailed information about this cooperation can be found on www.lexalyze.de and www.en.lexalyze.de.
From a technological point of view, Ingo is interested in applications of natural language processing within the legal domain. He is particularly interested in new developments of deep and transfer learning. From a theoretical view point, Ingo investigates in data structures and models to depict German legal verdicts.
