Since 2002 Florian Matthes holds the chair Software Engineering for Business Information Systems at Technische Universität München.
The current focus of his work is on service platforms and ecosystems, blockchain-based systems engineering, semantic analysis of legal texts, and privacy-preserving data management.
He is co-founder of CoreMedia AG, infoAsset AG, Tr8cy Ltd, 20six AG, and Blockchain Bayern e.V., scientific advisor of Noumena Digital, member of the advisory board of the Ernst Denert-Stiftung für Software Engineering, and initiator and organizer of international conferences and workshops in software and enterprise engineering.
Earlier stations of his academic career are Goethe-University Frankfurt (Diploma 1988), University of Hamburg (Ph.D. 1992), Digital Systems Research Center (now HP SRC Classic) in Palo Alto, USA (Researcher 1992-1993), and Technical University Hamburg-Harburg (Professor 1997-2002).
Until 2010 he served as dean of studies at the Department for Informatics and member of the Teaching Board of TU Munich. Since 2020 he serves as venture ambassador of the TUM venture labs.
Florian and his wife Nastaran Matthes are proud parents of two daughters.
