Andreas Freitag holds a diploma degree in Business (focus IT management and corporate finance) from Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz, Germany.
From 2006 to 2013, Andreas Freitag worked as a management consultant in the Global Competence Team Enterprise Architecture Management of Detecon International GmbH. The group specialized in methodological consulting regarding Enterprise Architecture, SOA and related topics in multi-divisional international corporations. Besides consulting projects, he was regularly engaged as a TOGAF Trainer in education and certification of enterprise architects.
Since 2014, Andreas Freitag is working in the Global IT Enterprise Architecture team of Merck Group.
Andreas Freitag is an external PhD student and works in the project team Mergers & Acquisitions.
Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) are an established management instrument for external growth. Despite their high relevance in today’s business environment, enterprises still struggle to manage M&A efficiently and a significant number of merger projects does not reach the expected goals or fails completely. Therefore, companies attempt to improve their M&A capability by establishing the required skills, organization, processes and methods.
Enterprise Architecture (EA) Management is an approach for business and IT planning. It fosters communication and provides a consistent information base, thus promising to contribute to the success of business transformation challenges such as M&A. Business capability models are proposed as a potential starting point. As an essential element of a state of the art EA Management approach, they describe the functional building blocks of the business model as part of the EA. Furthermore they are frequently used to work collaboratively with business and IT stakeholders.
His research focus lies on EA Management in the context of Mergers and Acquisitions, especially the application of business capability models in the M&A process of a corporate buyer organization.
