Motivation und Relevanz

Scientific Abstract:

The goal of the project initiative is the proof of concept, design, implementation, as well as the technical and economic evaluation of a system for AI-supported, legal assessment and correction of clauses from German-language employment contracts. This system should be capable of identifying unlawful/unfair clauses and making appropriate correction suggestions. The project aims to demonstrate that AI can be safely used to speed up professional contract review and make it more accessible to more people due to lower costs.

Objectives:

The central artifact of this research endeavor should be an AI-based demonstrator, which shows that artificial intelligence can be profitably employed in the legal industry by supporting lawyers in contract analysis and correction, two of their core tasks. The experiences and insights gained from this pilot project can serve as a blueprint in the future to find and successfully implement low-threshold entry points for the use of AI in practice. In the long term, this is intended to promote the use of digital technologies in the legal sector in general and make professional legal advice more efficient, cost-effective, and accessible to more people. Due to the focus on the German language, the research particularly benefits companies and clients in the German-speaking area and makes a valuable contribution to the digital innovation strength of the Free State of Bavaria.
